He wants a Cyprus tax residency confirmation as he is from France/Spain/etc. that wants to see it.

As a french citizen, you dont need to update every year / send yearly tax certificate every year... Only tax declaration if you have some income related to France.

If you are not french resident anymore (as citizen), you just have to :

- Notice the tax office when you move/moved with the new address abroad
- BETTER to register at the consulate/embassy where you live, then you get the certificate paper of the 'French nationals abroad' (not mandatory but still better to have it).
- Of course DONT spend 6 months+ per year in France or in France the most of the time (compare to any other country).
- If you have wife/kids, they cannot stay living there.
- STOP your national health security
- DON'T get income/Business from France, higher than what you can get in any another country. (if you have a retired pension, it doesnt count on it).

With that you should be fine, but no need to update or give anything in France every year if you don't live there anymore (and they already know it).

im not planning on paying any taxes anyway, nobody asked me if I was ok with their rules ange¤%&
Yes, but if you decide to stay there (or anywhere) you have to comply with their rules. It's the same if someone is visiting your house.. Has to go with your rules :) And on the other side, if I don't like their rules, I just move away.
We all here (almost all) did it even for our citizenship country...

besides most foreigner paid more than enough, lets say you buy the elite visa (even the old one at 1M pp) you have paid so much more in tax than most locals ever will.

We definitely paid and keep paying more than enough! That’s why I’ve decided to move and stay at max 178 days but it’s hard to find where to go not to have risks.. just found out that Georgia (not in the topic but as we discuss) does not work too so still looking for other options. Elite doesn’t give tax free. Some people think that LTR is tax free but check the rules & terms carefully and you will conclude..

Philippines is pretty ok. Or do you need to be somewhere all the time?

i need somewhere to get Tax residency (With paper) and then anywhere is ok ;) That's what I'm looking for.
Yesterday and today (out of topic but letting you know) i researched about Georgia. Article 104 makes it unsafe (taxable as Georgian income anywhere!!) so not for me.
Looking for alternatives that are really safe and not 183 days (as bahrain, HK, Singapore could be an option I think but I don't want to stay there 183 days - up to 70 days is enough),

how bout cyprus? afaik only 60 days. Or come to Dubai habibi, its 90 days with good weather the winter half-year.

HK and even more so SG are expensive.

Yes, I am thinking about CY.. UAE is not clear, some say 90 days, some 180.. And honestly I'd prefer CY than UAE.
But again i read that is risky as it has CFC rules (that Thailand does not have) etc, and they can just say anything they want.. But as it's EU i think it'd be better option etc.. what do you think

Ok. You need the paper. You have active/passive income from the EU and want to stay in a country that issues that paper and does legally not require you to pay tax on that income?

It’s passive I assume (dividends from companies). Income is from offshore companies (customers in eu).

To add, I don’t need to remit this money to the country I live / will be leaving (in case Thailand). Thank you for your help @daniels27

Ok. But if it is passive income only, are you able to tell the company not to pay dividends that year?

Also, you need to live in Thailand or can you just spend the year in the country with the paper and then leave?

Yes that’s an option, not to pay dividends (it’s my company) this year or any year but then the money stay in the company.
I don’t need to stay more than 6 months in Thailand but changing tax residency every year is hard (almost impossible), so if I move somewhere (trc paper) I need to keep it for many years (or permanently). That’s one more reason I prefer max 2 months stay - I can’t stay in UAE or somewhere I suffer for 6 months…
If Cyprus is safe then yes I can be staying 2 months there and the rest around.
thank you!!
