So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

opening a business will get you a temporary residence permit
No, they give out Non-Immigrant B visa for that. 90 days. Not residence permit. Also you need 2mil THB in capital and 4 Thai employees
I do not understand what you mean by residence permit and why you would need it
I said I am Russian, can’t work / have a business abroad without a permit
Why not a new dtv visa?
Not residence permit

I do not think, maybe I am mistaken, there is such a thing as a residence permit in TH. There are different type of visas that allows you to stay for XYZ time in Thailand, and then there is also a work permit. The permanent residency, after been working in the country and paying taxes for 3+ years, it is possible to apply.

You mean because you are Russian you cannot own a US LLC, UK LTD, company in UAE, Cyprus, Estonia, and so on? I am unaware of this.

Guys I deleted posts not made in English. Please stick to English on the forum...thx.

I can, but no bank account would take me without residency somewhere outside of Russia.

Still can’t find anything viable other than Employer of Record.

Other countries like Argentina just give out residence permits for nomads, business owners, etc. Sadly Thailand isn’t the same.

which is a temporary residence permit.
after the first 90 days you can extend it for 1 year, then again for 1 year, and so on.

you need it only on paper

Can't you just go to the Russian embassy in Thailand, show them your DTV visa and ask them to update the address in your passport?
If you have a passport that shows a Thai address, that should probably count as a residency permit...?
the registration paper which Thai immigration staples into your passport does not work a residence permit and is not accepted by any bank/KYC service, the work permit does work.

How to apply for a permanent residence permit after 3 years without knowledge of a thai language?
Had Thailand waived a language knowledge condition?

Please, others, correct me if I am wrong. If you want to live in Thailand (dtv will do that). For your business purposes, can you get residency in a different place? Argentina, as you mentioned, Uruguay, and Paraguay; in another thread, I read that the Philippines have a similar kind of program.

Maybe I am missing something tho.

theres like a ton of russians in phuket, what do they all do to handle this?
They have specialisted telegram channels / whatsapp gruops all for this, maybe you can get into these.
Maybe you can find what you need there? While not familiar with that matter and just from an outside observer role, id say it must work somehow for all these people.

Oh, damn.

I actually thought the DTV visa was a Thai residency, but it's just a tourist visa...

Asian countries are very strict with their residency requirements, it seems like they just want to milk foreigners.

Anyway, just get the DTV visa and a Thai driving license. You can use your Thai driving license for verifications—Wise, for example, will accept it.

One question: if you get the DTV visa, do they just stamp it in your passport, and you don’t receive an ID card? I think so since it's a tourist visa.

For residency, I’d recommend getting a UAE freelance visa, which costs around $3,000–$4,000 per year and will solve all of your problems.

Since you’re Russian, it’s worth checking out residency options in Serbia or Armenia. Be sure to check their stay requirements, though. You can search for them on this website: https://residencies.io/.

Georgian or Thai driving license can just solve your problems, though

Latin America seems like a good place to get a residency, something like Paraguay can work.

Honestly, I’m not sure how much money you have, but the UAE seems like the best option. You don’t have to live there—just visit twice a year.

it depends on the particular KYC staff member and their mood. the Thai driving license says "temporary driving license" and some anal KYC officers might not accept it as a proof of residency.
you need to stay in Thailand for more than 2 years to get another card without the word "temporary".

2 years card:

5 years card you get after the 2 years one is expired:

It will work for some of the EMI, it works with Wise, and it should work with the payoneer.

I have tested it personally.

Can we have a list of EMIs for which this Thai Driving License can work.

I am planning to do something similar with a Filipino Driving license which i think is equally / reasonably easy to get based on my other country license.I thought i saw some video in Youtube for the same.

Indonesian license works with Wise too, very easy to get one.
