Offshore Banks Accepting Americans

Banks in Serbia accept US citizens and you can bank with Austrian or German banks. Or you could try Andorra. And you mentioned Panama: most banks there accept US citizens, and you can open accounts remotely but you will need to go through an introducer.
I think one has to be EU resident to open up an account in EU correct ?

Do they accept non EU residents living in other countries ?

If you mean EU citizen living in other countries then yes. But scroll down on Natwest link and you will see the number of countries is limited where you must be a resident.

You may also try Barclays. They however seem to have stopped offering to EU residents. But if your EU citizen outside EU and your resident country is on approved list then your fine.

Well for us citizens some banks and brokerages usually don't open up accounts even if they are resident of that country as banks/brokerages don't want to spend staff hours in doing cumbersome reporting. They welcome all EU citizens if residents of that country without a single problem. It also depends on type of accounts too.

There is a huge difference between US and EU citizenship for banking. CRS vs FATCA administrative costs of the bank is 1:50. And I do not mention a risks for a bank business in case if anything is reported to IRS incorrectly...
If there is any US tie, bank will say no unless client is willing to pay brutal fees which will cover costs and risks of the bank. Bank si business like any other.

Problem with MrYellow is, he is SOCIALIST. And he believes, all people are equal.. He does not understand that it is not true..

ya not sure how people do not see the big glaring issue of US citizenship compared to EU citizenship lol. The difference is i cant even get brokerage services in the COUNTRY I LIVE IN THE EU from the banks while a EU citizen would have 0 issue.. then lets talk about investments EU KIT regulations make it so i cannot purchase US domiciled funds unless they are translated into the country i reside in the EU's language.. which they are not. This for an EU citizen no problem just buy a fund in Ireland or Luxembourg and done but this isn't so simple for a US citizen because then I am subjec to PFIC(Passive Foreign Investment Company) rules from the IRS and reporting which is very strict.ns2 all in all comparing EU citizenship to US citizenship is laughable get FATCA, PFIC, Citizenship based taxation, and then you can cry about your eu passport. it is 1000x better at the current moment for banking and investment than a US passport.

ya wanna try out my US passport and give your theory a trysmi(&% you'll be lucky to get a brokerage account in the congo much less any country you'd want your money in haha. You have no idea how much FATCA screws US passport holders clearly.. their is a massive difference between a EU and US passport. US citizens PAY tax anywhere in the world not just declare... I rely on tax treaties to avoid double taxation in most cases but issues can still arise like with the sale of a home etc.

I think he means the Foreign Earned Income Exemption for Americans?

Anyhow, I would agree that there is a big difference between US and EU citizenship. Worldwide taxation is a huge difference! EU citizens can easily opt out by changing residency from one day to the next. US citizens have to obtain a new passport and renounce, to reach the same situation. And even the they will be hounded to prove that they really renounced.

Look at Andrew Henderson's videos and then realize what us average Americans have to face. Even in UAE as a bonafide resident of UAE I face problems with some banks, brokerages simply denying my account on basis of being a US passport holder. Many of them told me just get a new non US passport. Problem resolved for us. ‍♂️. But still we have to file our reports with IRS or face problems. Trust me some investments are closed too to us citizens. EU citizens simply don't know such issues until EU starts doing that and I believe they are passing something like this soon.

I wonder if anyone of you believe all this bulls**t that is posted here?

What offshore bank (real offshore, not EMI) will board US citizens now a day.

Please mention banks and not post more bulls**t.

:) if you do find one let me know also. It's very difficult for any reasonable bank to accept us citizens even residents in their countries. They need higher amounts to justify their accounts to their compliance teams

With a low six figure you want to renounce US citizenship ? Unless you got some serious money it's not worth it but we have our own reasons. Too much paperwork to put up as they will never end this citizenship based taxation and FATCA. With denocrats in full power the last glimmer of hope is gone. Well Trump wasn't going to end it either. US expats are caught at the short end of the stick.
The confirmation hearing of Yellen would suggest a glimmer of hope.
