HSBC Armenia

I might be wrong, but I feel like since it's a global bank, they would share your info anyway.
I suppose it would be against the local laws to share data with a foreign government if Armenia laws don't allow that?

I tried opening an account with Evoca in Armenia but as soon as the application form asked for a passport, I said go away. HSBC will be even worse.
But wouldn't it be almost impossible to open an account without a passport?

Yes it works for us in Europe using a national ID but I wouldn't expect to open an account abroad with no passport

Anybody managed to open an account with them considering Armenia is a Non-CRS country?
I did and they have shittiest online banking in whole Armenia:
- can't send swift via mobile app
- need to get some hardware token to sign each transaction
- charging more money than other banks in Armenia.

I had an impression that the only reason HSBC exists in Armenia is to work with huge corps on large transactions. They business account requires around $1m turnover annually.

Of course passport is required, it is required everywhere not just in Armenia

If you have global view/transfer enabled with HSBC accounts in other countries, they might share information if requested by authorities as stated in the legal fineprint but it should be fine if you don't activate this option.

Idk about HSBC Armenia but I have had a good experience with this bank as a retail client in 4+ juridictions (self serve, I am a very low touch client as I do everything myself). They don't bother me much, besides the sporadic CRS certification letter. Also I am Premier everywhere so there are literally no fees for almost everything I do.
