How are you making money?

So far nobody said what he is actually doing, except couple IT guys.
I'm getting increasingly suspicious at you guys.

As about what I do, nothing. But my money, ah they work quite a bit.
Ha, you are not wrong.

My front was in the international hospitality industry and that covered for offshore consulting. Mostly very tailored solutions for (U)HNWI. Those services ranged from tax optimisation to location scouting or from negotiation on behalf of a client to organising security services in weird countries. Still vague, but at least a little bit more right?

Freelance consultancy work through my UAE company. I specialise in several activities (not a full list by any means):

Project Manager/BA to banks and asset managers/hedge funds.
ERP system consulting/implementations
Setting up compliance/AML systems and processes for companies
Operational risk
Organising business infrastructure, e.g. for a new fund/finance company launch (previously worked as a COO)
Content writing and websites
Using my relationships to bring people together if/where possible
General consultancy work
A bit of real estate on the side

There isn't a set rule. You either go through your network, e.g. former colleagues, friends of friends or clients or other consultants from previous projects.

That being said, I am in a position now where I can take on extra work and provide more consultancy services, so will be looking to ramp up my outreach.

I have had to fix quite a lot of mess here in the UAE/GCC where cheaper, outsourced labour was let loose on clients' projects.

I used to have a "front", an activity that required little explaining and was more than enough to satisfy curiosity of people. It explained my frequent traveling and paid for my lifestyle. Besides that I did what I did and that was only known to a handful of people.

Just find something that can work as a "front" for you and you are sorted.
Finding that thing to do is the hard part.

Not so much...
freelance photography (corporate events?)
location scouting
event organization

Mind you, its a front for the outside that allows you to do what you want to do.
As a photographer you can then use for instance trade fairs around the globe to cover for why you are always traveling.
