German IBAN

Also note that if you live in the EU (or have an address), you can walk into any German bank (or contact them otherwise) and you are entitled a bank acocunt there. They legally cannot refuse you for a basic bank account if it is your first in Germany.
They can and they do refuse, at least in Belgium. Banks have their own rules, no one cares about that website you have posted. Tried and tested. You can take them to court of course if you wish lol

They just behave liks monkeys, to use @JohnnyDoe's terms. The main problem with that issue in the EU is that there is no fine for discriminating and not accepting. Yes, you can pay 5000 to go to court and then win and get a small fraction of your lawyer's fees back.

To be fair, there are some countries like France, which are a bit more rigurous and actually do help people in getting those accounts.

Belgium is a nightmare. I tried the show there, a ton of monkey questions upfront and then you need to go there. It has been a very unpleasant experience.

Germany, I am not sure, but as far as I am informed, they are pretty open to give you the account you want. But apart from DKB and maybe comdirect, there are not many institures I would like to work with there. Unicredit is quite good but comes at a price.

Bunq doesn't have instant payments. I'll try Tomorrow too.
I have 3 Fintech banks/EMIs with a DE IBAN: Vivid, Tomorrow and N26. Strangely, my Italian Paypal account also has a DE IBAN.

So far, my favourite is Vivid, but no problems with any.

My Bunq account has a NL IBAN. One possible advantage of Bunq is the debit card with a number that identifies it as a credit card.

One thing non-EU people need to know about certain types of business in the EU is that EU rules meant to protect foreign citizens (even EU citizens) are often ignored. Eg IBAN discrimination is supposed to be illegal, an IBAN from another EU country is as valid as a domestic one, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. In some countries it happens regularly, apparently with impunity.
