Exactly, but at least Circle waits for a court order to do so. Tether doesn't do this, it has been discussed thousands of times on crypto twitter.

Also don’t forget the “burn” function. (I wonder if when triggered they also burn the corresponding USD fiat amount they supposedly hold )

So 1% of USDT supply and 1.7% of USDC supply is currently frozen? That makes even Wise and Revolut look safer! At least they give back your money after having them frozen...
