Trump Says Will Sell 'Gold' Residency Permits For $5 Million

Maybe Canada and Mexico should announce their own Golden Residency programs for much less than $5m. I think competition is a good thing ;)

i.e invest $1m get permanent residency for you and your family and no tax on foreign sourced passive income held abroad. Window of opportunity only open to those who apply during Trumps term in office smi(&% .

1.2 million investment (five years, no interest, 1 million returned) and networth of 2 million. In CAD. Requires intermediate French, though.

Wonder if we'll see other provinces and territories follow suit.

Mexico has something similar based on income, savings, property, or investment, all of them with reasonable/modest requirements.

Genius.
I was selling something similar when I was about 10 years old. My card gave you nothing but it was so exclusive that kids raced to buy it smi(&%

There is a trick I forgot mentioning...
"Unlike American citizens, Gold Card holders are exempt from paying U.S. taxes on their overseas income."

David Lesperance, Managing Partner at Lesperance & Associates told Newsweek:
"The promoted feature of the "Trump Card" is that the holders will magically only be subject to US territorial taxation. To actually make this happen would require a change to the definition of being a US person for Tax Purposes in the Internal Revenue Code. There would need to be a new category that outlines how Gold Card holders' tax obligations are completely different from the worldwide tax obligations of Citizens, Green Card Holders, and those who trigger the Substantial Presence Test."

Donald Trump said in the Oval Office: "It's going to be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They will be wealthy, they will be successful, they will be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes."

What if they're not a US resident? 0 tax?

If you are smart and living in the U.S. making money is almost inevitable. I would be fine with paying whatever taxes they charge on that money as long as my non-U.S. income remains tax free.
If the program materializes as described, it will be checkmate for every other golden visa or flat tax scheme out there.

Trump’s $5 Million ‘Gold Card’ Visas Go on Sale Soon. There Are Still Tax Questions

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/oth...oon-there-are-still-tax-questions/ar-AA1DbW1v

Hummmmm.....If it does not have the tax advantage then what exactly are they selling?

Is he gonna bully large US Corporations to buy these Visas in order move their skilled foreign workers to U.S? The last part of article is telling...

"When Trump first introduced the card, he said companies such as Apple could buy them to facilitate U.S. residency for highly skilled workers."

Trump acts like a mafia boss so maybe this is his plan all along to force banks, tech companies etc to buy favor with him by buying these golden visas for foreign staff ca#"!

In case foreign income isn't excluded from taxes it'd be a bit underwhelming for 5 million to say the least. Especially if the Eb5 program won't get removed, which seems likely. Although it expires in 2027, I'm curious if it's going to be extended. In that case you could just go for the Eb5 program and save yourself 4 million. Golden Visa would only make sense for the ultra-wealthy to speed up the process, as the article states a green card would be approved/granted within a month

Don't forget. His target is not making America better but to be on the front page each and every day.

@Aetherial the EB-5 will be replaced by this. Instead of $800k/1M now it's $5M and you get the trump face on it, that's it for now, if they aren't able to change the tax system for territorial taxation.
Ultimately it's fair to ask $5M I guess for such a big market.
Put $5M on the plate, a business plan to "create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs" and you're in, no matter where you came from.
$1M was easy. At $5M you're starting to screen the candidates more thoroughly.
Keep that business going and you'll have a path to citizenship.

If you're from a friendly country and want to do business there, you still have the E-2.
~100/200k gets you in? BUT the E-2 is a nonimmigrant visa, so it has no path to citizenship!

Then DJT goes like:
"we'll be able to sell maybe a million of these cards, maybe more than that" rof/%
he never lies... he tells half truths... he just forgot the "in the next 100 years maybe" part...

as the EB-5 ($1M investment) supposed figures for this year are:
"In FY2025, a record-breaking 4,608 EB-5 visas were issued in Q1 alone, a 90% increase year-over-year. This brings the total number of EB-5 visas available in FY2025 to 18,786"
so the whole "we're going to sell millions of them" is just marketing BS.

I mean, just do a $50M CBI scheme, sell them the american dream, give them a golden passport (real gold) with trump face on it and feed these people to the IRS beast and 3 letter agencies for life ;)

to be worthwhile it should include
1) tax exemption
2) presidential pardon
