SERBIA CITIZENSHIP AFTER ONE YEAR TEMPORARY RESIDENCY - DRAFT LAW?

I'm probably too slow today... 'buy' the legal way or the other one?
Citizenship of the Republic of Serbia may also be granted to a foreigner (and their spouse) whose admission represents an interest to the Republic of Serbia, on recommendation by the competent Ministry. The decision on admission in this case is made by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

AFAIK; As in laws, Serbia's "interests" too broad term; if you have right contacts you can easily be in Serbia's "interests" with 50k eur "donation"

This is a MAJOR problem if one tries to enter, e.g., China with this. The immigration entrance machine starts to speak to you in your passport's language. In Serbian, I would be so f*cked stupi#21
hahah, one simply can say i am married to a Serbian, i dont know their language :D:D

If you dont know anyone in there, start with researching attorneys. Dont be afraid, just tell them you want to donate money to get into Serbia's "interests" :D

My Ukrainian friend got his citizenship with this way last year, its even so common that most of police chiefs knows that way in there.

(PS: i dont know attorneys at the link i've given before, i just gave it just so you guys read details about the law, and i cannot recommend any attorney, just do your research)

Here is another article about it:

I can imagine that they are all corrupt in Serbia and you can pay any attorney to find the right contact that can help you with the passport. That can't be difficult and may be as easy as to find the well known and famous homeless person.

dont wanna necessarily fearmonger and just thinking out loud, but if sanctions are expanded, serbia passport could be treated equally to russian having impacts on ones asset in the west.
Id say suitable if one has already departed from the west and has most of the net-worth outside the banking system.

I would wonder why anyone want to relocate to Serbia at this time with all the s**t going on in the world. However, if someone is in the process of relocating to Serbia right now I would really like to hear your story if you don't mind.

It is called lazyness and is government best friend. It basically distorts the free market of people as some are not moving, allowing governments to increase taxes without people leaving.

my "privileged" nationality by birth means that I have zero issues with international mobility and certainly don't need another passport to increase my comfort - it's a lack of safety that motivates my effort as my primary country holds my balls
I understand for certain people it's totally different story and second (stronger) passport can make a huge difference

Apply for second passport fine, but why would anyone consider Serbia for this purpose?
For some people, it gives useful visa free access to places, especially if your other passport doesn’t have visa-free Schengen, and a nice fig leaf for travel, e.g., going to Russia as a Serbian is a more appealing prospect at the moment for a US citizen for more than one reason.

I had a call with a Serbian attorney recently about a few matters, including citizenship by exception. I have business reasons to start a company there and the potential opportunity for citizenship in the course of that would be a nice bonus. It sounds like Russians have driven up the price of what it takes to become aligned with the interests of Serbia, to the point that the outright donation option is unfavorable compared to Caribbean options based just on monetary cost. The other option, involving actually forming a Serbian company, appears to have some additional fees associated with it that would affect the success or failure of your application. In both cases, these amounts are determined per applicant and, reading between the lines, it seems to be based on how much they think they can extract. Timelines for obtaining the citizenship appear to be quite short.

Naturalization has one drawback in that one must renounce his other citizenships, unless that requirement is waived. It can be and sometimes is, but this is not guaranteed.

That makes good sense, thanks for insides.

If you want to have a company and activity in Serbia, then I can understand your thoughts; otherwise, I don’t think there are many advantages to be seen.
