I didn't say that I love banks and support all they do but they are private companies,....

Big consumer banks certainly aren't real private companies as legislation forces many to use them for many purposes. Eg. in many countries companies are banned from paying out salaries in cash, they have to pay with bank transfers.
Therefore these banks are at least semi-governmental.
