Just got confirmation that I can print the digital document from the government and apostille them. The apostille needs to be physical but the birth certificate / criminal record can be digital and later printed.you need paper documents.

You need to contact the consular section of the embassy, usually better by phone.Ok, maybe then it is only the consulates. I emailed the embassy and they never responded.
