Have you guys seen this? European Digital Identity

The European Digital Identity can be used for any number of cases, for example:
  • public services such as requesting birth certificates, medical certificates, reporting a change of address
  • opening a bank account
  • filing tax returns
  • applying for a university, at home or in another Member State
  • storing a medical prescription that can be used anywhere in Europe
  • proving your age
  • renting a car using a digital driving license
  • checking in to a hotel
"In 2021, the European Commission proposed a legal framework establishing a European Digital Identity (“EDI”). The EDI will be available to all businesses, residents, and citizens of the EU. Such legal and natural persons will be able to quickly prove their identity and share electronic documents from their EDI wallets. This can be done simply by clicking on a button on their mobile phone. Companies will be able to use the EDI to verify the age of their customers.

The proposal for the EDI invites the EU countries to create a common EDI-related toolbox by September 2022 and start preparing for the implementation of a new EDI regulation as soon as possible. The toolbox needs to include standards, technical infrastructure, and best practice guidelines. The EDI proposal aims to address the current legislative gap pertaining to the lack of laws requiring the EU countries to create national IDs that are interoperable with the national IDs of the other EU countries."

It's over. EU is turning into a totalitarian nighmare.

Sadly so many EU residents will welcome it with open arms. They will welcome the convenience while not giving any concern that this will be purely a EU citizen tracking apparatus. It will no doubt be used to access the internet and post on public forums, confirm your over 18 when visiting P**N sites etc etc. It's use will NOT be limited....lol.

Kiss goodbye to your privacy. Good luck folks.

It's always like that. First it seems innocent and all, and then it slowly creeps in and grabs onto more power... This is why we should resist at the first sign of trouble, not just when it gets out of hand which at that point, it'll be too late.

True but afaik nearly all countries at some point heavily restricted personal freedom.
That's true to an extent, however it really differed from country to country. What I'm mostly looking at is population compliance.

For me, it's Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nobody there gave a s**t about Covid, no one wore masks and there's no such thing as a digital vax certificate. Taxes are low, prices are cheap and the Croatian coast is nearby thu&¤#

How's the population compliance been in Latin America? I heard in Uruguay people were very compliant. Brazilian I know is a COVID sheep all the way through. Latin America seems to be very supportive of left-wing authoritarianism, unfortunately.

Are you resident in FBiH or RS? Since BiH did not sign CRS yet, how is with taxation and reporting of foreign capital gains if you have personal brokerage account abroad? I was reading years ago something about 10% tax and 0% for dividends.
