Haha, Swiss and (Tokyo) Japanese, they love to follow rules, even if there is no enforcement.

I had to research that myself now: Yes, it's possible to do it, even without a residence card.
Thank god. I actually expected to lose mine in a few years, but it's easy to keep it going by just visiting.

Thanks. Hence, I apply for the nomad visa, get the driving licence and then call it a day? And if I want the my number card, I need to get the talent visa?

And btw, you may not need to go through the hassle to borrow so much. Just speculate with 100x leverage on Binance.

And......it's gone.

maybe JPY is a risky choice however in general it's not a bad idea to borrow shitcoins if possible in countries like Argentina, Turkey, Lebanon, Sri Lanka - especially if it's long enough loan (5+ years, or rather 10+) - don't you agree? please elaborate

You could setup a grid trading strategy to take regular profits, and average down when it goes the wrong direction. It will work well for some time, until you lose everything.

Either way, you can lose everything. But why add a compmletely unrelated risk with a JPY loan? Just forget about this nonsense and do leverage if you cannot afford. If you do 100x and put in 10k, you lose 10k when it goes down by 1%. If you do 1x and put in 1m, you lose 10k when it goes down 1% (but you also lose 50k if JPY goes down 5% which is quite likely).

Inverse correlation and/or low volatility on the borrowed asset.

Leverage is not carry trading.

You can also bet on a single number at the roulette, it’s just a different game.

100% this!

But OP is not even interested in carry trading. He is just trying to get low interest rates like the Hungarian CHF victims in the old days

He just wants to speculate on BTC. That's why my questoin was why to add the carry trade risks if you can speculate on BTC otherwise.

I am not into either.

He has no money. He wants to setup a loan scam in Japan and use the free JPY he gets to speculate on crypto with no risk.

If you already have a JP driving license, you can renew it on a tourist visa.

If you don't have one, but want it, you can check the immigration page for visa categories, they got lots of them now.

Cultural activities visa is for up to 3 years (dancing, ikebana, karate, etc) -> enough for driving license, if you want to learn Japanese you can get a student visa from some private institute -> enough for driving license, bank account, part time work, mynumber. Nomad visa -> enough for driving license.

But really, why would you want the my number card? I'd strongly suggest to avoid getting one if you can.

If it's for banking: Japanese banking isn't great, and especially bad for SWIFT transfers. Every time I used the most foreigner friendly bank to transfer money to my own account abroad, I got a 15 minutes call where they kept asking me if I am sending the money to North Korea, Iran, or some leather industry (!?!) abroad. EVERY F*CKING TIME. To my own account in the same name! And every transfer cost me 4000 yen then, plus 2% FX. All other banks charged 8000 yen btw, and that was when 1$ was around 86 yen.

They sent out the notification cards to apply for the mynumber card to everyone, and almost no one did it for 2 years or so. Then they created a program to lure people in by bribing them with 20,000 yen cashback, and most people went for the money (it was after COVID).

I avoided getting it for 2 years, I used the simple notification paper with the same number on it instead. The mynumber card system is highly insecure and has been knowingly breached already. It contains all your data, bio-metric photo, a RFID chip, and the same number stays with you for your WHOLE LIFE. You are supposed to keep it secret and away from everyone, but you can bet that sometime, somewhere during the time your identity gonna get stolen and sold to some Chinese immigrant. They use a plastic sleeve to hide the number, lol, but everywhere you need to give a copy of it, at your workplace, city hall, bank, everyone knows the number in the end anyway.

Currently, they already link everything to it: all your jobs, your income, all your bank accounts, income and other taxes, your residence address, your health insurance, doctor visits and health records, and is going to be soon even used for public transportation like busses and subway throughout the whole country (They already do it in limited areas since 2021: https://www.japan.go.jp/kizuna/2021/03/new_id_card_system.html ). No need for a tracking device or AI cameras, big brother will know everything about you. Total surveillance.

Seriously, Japan is famous for getting hacked all the time, just few days ago the huge Resona bank got hacked and breached (they are still offline), and almost every month stuff like that happens, even without hackers they keep loosing data everywhere: https://mothership.sg/2022/06/japanese-man-lost-usb/

Yes, and you think that anybody will give you an unsecured loan at the advertised rates you read? Even Swiss credit cards will charge you well above 10%.

It came to me personally. You need to tell them that you are Daniel Smith from Norwich. They won't give out the money otherwise!
