I think everybody that wants more freedom in the world has a dog in this fight. Statists need to win everywhere, we just need to win in one or a few places! If you have one or few more places in the world with high personal and economic freedom, low taxes, small government, these attract capable and freedom loving people and investors and entrepreneurs from the whole world - increasing the freedom and propsperity for everyone. As I always say I will let people find out the hard way. I have no dog in this fight so his success or certain failure is off no concern or consequence to me personally.
Big news out of the bargies overnight finally a person that can turn the country around seemingly.

Been a buzz word in our home for a while but not serious enough to look into... before anyway.
Argentina - Pros Cons
what worse could happen to Argentina?
of course, like everyone else, it's the only winning strategy in "democratic" elections - those who did not never had their chanceHe told people what they wanted to hear and in December he is in office
agreed, bitcoinization isDollarization is no silver bullet, despite what Argentina's new president says
I think unlike previous decades, the right wing will be clearly supported by the US as the anti-china alliance in Latin AmericaHe will play the game of "we're not going to be in bed with China promise!" and be showered in greenbacks. You think his win was a coincidence? He was enjoying major support from the US surely.
Milei is an academic and economist, Trump is a rich-kid who inherited his empire. They are worlds apart.Milei reminds me of Donald Trump, a true populist, my hopes are not high as with every politician but I really hope I'm wrong
On the other hand it would be awasome if Argentina became prosperous and business friendly and lead other Latin American countries by example
100% true! You can't eat hope and hope doesn't pay the bills either.
I agree that Milei will likely not succeed in his plans, however, I don't think that will be because of Milei and his ideas.Lets see how well Argentina does by end of his first term if he carries through all his election promises. This thread will be around in 4 years time.
I sincerely wish the people of Argentina all the best however .

“What he wants to implement is what they do in the United States, in Spain, in normal countries,” Quiroga told Al Jazeera before the vote. “What we are experiencing here is going towards Venezuela, Cuba.”
Milei will face a daunting set of challenges when he takes office on December 10, including government coffers that are in the red, a $44bn debt programme with the International Monetary Fund and inflation approaching 150 percent.
He also faces a divided legislature that threatens to constrain him from implementing his radical vision.
Campante said there was a high risk of instability due to Milei’s weak political support and the difficult economic situation.
“He seems attached to economic ideas that are very risky, to say the least – eg dollarization,” Campante said.
“If he doubles down on them, things risk going very badly. If he changes course and chooses a more orthodox and conciliatory approach, then things could be better, but oftentimes characters like him are unable to choose a moderate path.”

Interesting...I agree that Milei will likely not succeed in his plans, however, I don't think that will be because of Milei and his ideas.
Yes, and if he can make the country attractive for crypto-using expats that would mean a win for me.If the only thing he's able to do is removing ARS from the country and start using USD, that's the biggest win for Argentina in almost 80 years so even if that's the only thing he does it will be a full success for the country. Dollarization has worked on all latam countries that tried it and those countries where USD dollars flow freely on the country too: Panama, El Salvador, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay, etc...
Obviously, it'll take a certain amount of time if he'll be able to bring revolution.Wait between 3 to 6 years to see if he is able to change Argentina, I hope he's able to so neighbours countries take note... But is not going to be easy because Milei doesn't have power across the country
he just told on tv the country is full of lithium and musk wants it, also US gov...The Government will present a DNU to cancel thousands of state employee contracts.
The government of President Javier Milei plans to move forward with more cuts in expenses, this time aimed at canceling the contracts of state employees through a new Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU).
It would be a rule that contemplates the cancellation of 7,000 state employee contracts that were due to expire in the coming days.
The DNU, according to the local media, would be known this Tuesday, December 26 and would first affect those who are hired without seniority in the central administration of the Executive and in the decentralized organizations of the State, in addition to public companies and public limited companies.
