Has anyone had any experience with CALAY Banking in Geneva ?
They promise a lot but it's unclear if they can keep what they promise and what it costs.
Any information shared would be welcome and much appreciated. TNX!

Plus, there is nothing cool at all in having an address in Geneva. Avoid.
Oh, thank you ! What you say definitely makes sense. I could have checked more carefully all that.
Didn't look fishy at first sight but, in truth, all traps are designed that way.... Best regards.

It says on their website that they are not a bank and do not offer banking services. They are just intermediaries, if they can do anything at all).

Of course. You're right. They are certainly obliged to state that they aren't a bank. However they may be an EMI. People don't necessarily need a bank but, in this case, just a prepaid or debit card because some other FI offer accounts/IBAN but issue no cards. I didn't go much in detail but will never pay any fees prior to being successfully on-boarded. I think it's very harmful a practice that can beget a lot of scam schemes. And, of course, in the first place, calling themselves CALAY Banking and proudly showing an address in Geneva (not on the waterfront however ;-) ) stinks a bit - I agree with @JohnnyDoe therein.

Hi @GF150, hi everyone — and thank you for raising the question.

Apologies for the very late reply — we've only just seen this post now. We weren’t actively monitoring the forum last year, but we’re more engaged these days and happy to provide some clarity.

I'll do my best to explain without sounding like a sales pitch.

We have been offering our assistance with banking introductions in many jurisdictions for a while now. That’s something we’ve been doing since 1997 (those with enough experience will remember we used to be known as FBS Banking before we sold our trademark and some brokerage client portfolio to another firm in Cyprus). Then, we have our analysts scanning AML regulations, local offshore laws and just keeping our in house knowledge up to date. That’s where we create value for our clients.

CALAY Banking™ basically bridges the gap between an entrepreneur in location A and a banking solution in location B. Entrepreneurs come to us with a problem, and we do our best to find a solution. And 90% of the time, it’s not just a banking matter we have to deal with, it’s a deeper issue and a more complex mandate.

We don’t have a product to sell, but rather a long experience with compliance matters and the correct contacts to tackle most situations.

We don’t charge for the first 30mins appointment, so you can assess if we’re a good fit for you and for us to see if we can, or want, to onboard you. You’ll notice that for a business who’s been in practice for that long, there is no negative feedback about us, we must be doing something right…

Finally, we have our own reasons to like Geneva. It might be because we feel our servers are safe there, or maybe there are other reasons, but I don’t believe that’s the issue at hand here :-)

If you — or anyone else reading — would like more information or wants to discuss a specific practical case, feel free to DM me or book a Zoom conference via our website. Happy to help, and happy to demonstrate that we’re still on top of the offshore world after 28 years!

Safe from what? A prosecutor’s stamp on a paper will have your servers confiscated for investigation.

It is, because if you value your clients’ privacy you shouldn’t have your servers in Geneva.

Do you tried their service? They are the same as the one with the AD thread on OCT ?

Having a discussion about HOW we handle our IT would reveal far too much information so we won’t. But for a business that’s been there since 1997, we’ve always managed to keep our data safe, and we never appeared in the Panama paper, the freedom one, or any other leak so we are either very lucky or we’ve been smart in our technical choices…

Panama papers originated from journos. If the Ministere Public decides it wants something from you, it will take it, no need for leaks.
You might have been lucky, and I hope you continue to be.
But you are not safe in Geneva. For example, all it takes is a report filed by a competitor to stimulate an investigation and get you in troubles.
