The list of non CRS countries 2019 - 2025

I have compiled the below small list for all of you to get a quick overview of what countries don't participate in the CRS (The Common Reporting Standard) which is an information standard for the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) regarding bank accounts on global level, between the tax authorities, which the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has developed. It's purpose is to combat tax evasion.

Lots of information I know, but hope it helps people to understand what the list is about and how important it can be for one looking for total privacy.

here is the list in alphabetical order:
  • Armenia
  • Cambodia
  • Dominican Republic
  • Republic of Georgia
  • Guatemala
  • Kazakhstan
  • Macedonia
  • Montenegro
  • Paraguay
  • Philippines
  • Puerto Rico
  • Serbia
  • Ukraine
  • United States (Consider FATCA RULES) !!

You need to check each country as time goes since this is a ever changing world and the fact that some countries actually will be part of the CRS is a ever lasting threat.

Unless there are other flags raised nobody is asking about your info from another country where they dont have agreements to share information. However if a specific request is made then the story changes.
My situation is I have an entity in Australia which is the sales entity. I have the operations entity in Philippines. I figured at some point if not a lot of money is coming back from there at some point the ATO may get curious in an audit. It’s all above board, nothing dodgy in my structure. But that is when I thought they may request info.

If they tell them to piss off that’s great

Hmm, I doubt they would deny a request from a tax authority from one of their customers basic details. Or maybe they need my approval? I will get to test it out at some point haha

I wish Thailand was on that list as that’s where I’d prefer they weren’t talking to each other
Thailand might well find itself on a EU/UK list in the future due to their stance on supporting Ukraine and leveraging sanctions against domestic Thai companies.

The US However is now pro Russia so will likely turn a blind eye.

I don't think Australia will mess around with Thailand's stance and the FTAs we have in place, for the sake of a Euro problem. But who knows how influence works indirectly. We will see.

to passport country? are you sure?
Yes maybe because in Hongkong while enquiring for opening an account with one bank the guy kept telling me i only need your passport when i was continuously telling him that i am a resident of UAE and he said finally i don't care about your residency( i thought at the time that he is an idiot but yes he maybe that overzealous banker too). But as per the rules they should be reporting to the country of residence only.

This is most probably the banks internal rules. Some banks only accept passports when opening accounts.
