Limiting data visibility for estonia ou ubo

Maybe @Don can help with this question ?

I avoid Estonia companies as register is fully viisble with not even a decent pay wall on some sites. Anyone can see anything from annual reports to detailed analytics about your company and leave comments on your company.

P.S Closed my company down years ago. EU companies are a no go for me and especially Estonian.
I was renewing my Estonian E Residency today.

They asked me so many stupid questions: my CV, personal bank accounts, business bank accounts, do I deal with crypto as a business, do I deal with crypto personally, have I ever been refused a visa, and why, how does my company contribute to the Estonian economy.

It's been 5 years since I have received my Estonian E-Residency, and it's time to renew it.

I have also tried to renew, and got all these very personal questions.
Including to provide them with all bank account list. It just does not make any sense

Yeah when I had to do renew mine years ago they asked a few questions but not like that :oops:. Its police or border force or whatever they call it running the show with E-Residency and you have to pass the police check. I will not be renewing mine again when it expires. As I cannot find a use for an Estonian company after new 2% defense tax, advance tax payments each quarter, e-invoicing coming in, over the top transparency of register and administration overhead. It's a nightmare to run a once simply company setup and it is only gonna get worse not easier. See below.

Advance tax payments

Companies will be required to make an advance defense tax payment to the Tax and Customs Board’s bank account by the 10th day of the third month of each quarter. It is calculated as follows:

  • on one-fourth of the pre-tax profit earned in the previous financial year, if the deadline for making the advance tax payment is after 1 July;
  • on one-fourth of the pre-tax profit earned in the financial year before the previous one if the deadline for making the advance tax payment is before 1 July, unless the annual report for the previous financial year has been submitted;
  • on one-fourth of the pre-tax profit earned in the previous financial year if the deadline for making the advance tax payment is before 1 July and the annual report for the previous financial year has been submitted.
Thus, the advance tax payments must be paid by 10 September, 10 December, 10 March and 10 June.

We know this. But E-residency was supposed to make operating an Estonian company remotely easier for a non-resident i.e digital signing, interaction with register etc. But Estonian is now a bureaucratic and tax nightmare for a "e-resident". With VAT hikes, tax hikes, tax payments 4 times a year - even e-residency cost hiked....lol. To circle back to OP's point the visibility on register is too extreme for myself to want to deal with.

Attorney: Tax hikes cluster takes the cake as worst legislation of 2024

Well, at least we have 1 year. (From 1st January 2026 new 2% "Defence tax" will be imposed to all Estonian-registered entities, it will also apply to "non-disturbed" profits that previously were tax-free.)

They made many people open a company there, and raised the taxes, very nice, very good.

Really?

I had one years ago, and all they cared about was who I was.

Same here. It was too good to be true. It attracted a lot of malevolent characters. Better to stay far away from that jurisdiction to avoid becoming collateral damage.
