In the past, 2co was the most recommended processor, so it was paypal or now I can see that it is stripe, what makes Stripe the most recommended processor?
Looking at the whole ecommerce space, 2CheckOut have always been relatively small and only ever really managed to gain a name for themselves for looking the other way when it comes to card scheme regulations. In terms of market share, they were never significant outside of a few smaller industries.
Stripe is very popular because it's easy to sign up, easy to integrate, lots of plugins available for WooCommerce and other shopping carts, and the rates are OK if you're just starting out. The same can be said about Braintree.
But for higher volumes (six figures a month), Stripe and Braintree lose their competitive edge.
They are very easy to get an account with and almost no issues for legit business activity. Furthermore you are subject to only a little KYC verification compared to other MAP's.
On top of this they support a large number of European countries i.e. Germany, France, UK and many more, they are not US only!
Stripe is simply the easiest to integrate for many.
Same reason PayPal was/is so easy, its about ease of use. People dont want to be bothered waiting days to get verified or submitting more paperwork than they need to.
