I was wondering what is apostille ? I read it always when I get the incorporation documents for offshore companies and when the banks are requesting documents they need to be with apostille!

So can you explain to me what it is and why it is important for the banks to get this? Also is it a document or a seal, stamp or what is it?

Here is a list HCCH | Status table of countries that accept the Apostille for Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents under the Hague Convention.

Briefly it's about to get a guarantee that the documents (in this case the incorporation documents for the company) are original, true and legal. They are the documents you hold that confirm your company to exists and be duly incorporated in whatever country you got the documents Apostilled.

Its a form of authentication for your documents. Its like a notarization but Apostille verified documents are used in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961.
