I've seen the system implemented for some of these systems, many of the ones ask you to move your head. Some record from the second the camera is turned on. Some record the location information from the phone and other information on the phone, including hotspots visible (there is a service they use to geolocate even based on that).Depends on what type of verification they use. If video, some look for reflections, small movements, and depth of field.
