Proton -- the VPN outfit -- announced today a new, secure, cloud collaboration feature.
I used it already.
Very nice and, if I can believe Proton, very secure.

I put up a spreadsheet that I can work on with my virtual assistant.
Changes show up immediately so the other person can see.
Saving is immediate, automatic, and secure.

Recently my assistant and I did an extensive trial of NextCloud -- a similar document collaboration service.
The get right to the bottom line, I wasted the cost of 6-month minimum service.
And wasted many, many hours testing it.

This new Proton feature is virtually free, included in Proton Drive "cloud" service.
I have a "Proton Unlimited" subscription.

I don't yet have long term experience with this Proton Docs feature,
but so far, it is fast and easy to use.

Here is what Proton says about it,
