I've learnt (frequently the hard way!) many times in life its best to put contingencies in place for things that are unlikely to happen but have major consequences while they seem far off and your position is good...because if you wait for SHTF it's already too late, whether in business, relationships or life in general. I've hunted and handled firearms since childhood, worked on farms etc. So am comfortable that short of nukes me and mine can eat. Other than that, water filters, generator x 2 and few thousand litres of fuel, old beaten land rover or toyota and a boot full of spares is useful day to day and a major help in bad snow or floods etc. Then there's financial layer, OCT has taught me a few tricks to diversify and spread risk here
