Environmental issues such as low carbon emission and ground water contamination is a global concern now. Natural gas is certainly one of the cleaner fuels compared with coal or crude oil. So we have to struck a perfect balance between environment and development. Making law may not be the right answer to this problem.
Takeover or acquisition of smaller companies by multinational companies like EXXONMOBIL may be a good step. But environmental concerns have nothing to do such developments. There is no doubt about it that, clean ground water are largely contaminated by oil drilling of bigger companies. There should be stringent norms to tackle such issues.
There's been concern about a prolonged slump in natural gas prices below $4 per 1,000 cu. ft. (Mcf), due mostly to a supply glut from a production surge in unconventional gas deposits and a drop in demand due to the recession. But prices have briefly edged above the $5 level three times in the past three months, giving hope that demand is improving with the return of economic growth
