I got a new card 2 months ago. I've been using it 50% wirelessly when paying for something. In total I've used 20-30 times including wireless payments. Several times I withdrew money.

It was in the original country and in a new one.

I kept it in a wallet and moreover in a special plastic cover.

One day it stops to work. I try 10 ATMs, 10 shops, over the next several days... errors everywhere. As if it was a hardware problem. I call to a bank and they say "your chip has gotten broken". I don't know if they guessed it or were actually able to see in their system.

the chip looks normal.

How can this be?

I have cards that are waaaaayyyyyy older, their chip are scratched - no problem.

i have normal plastic card that not accepted by all atms unless the slot is compact and tightly press the card, it's works with some only . some issuers will have more of low quality cards because the design is not precise or in your case this chip is bad .
