Whats up guys,
I´m moving to CY in April and the expenses start to rack up. I will be there for 5-7 Months / year. On the Island its extremely important to have a car, which is why i am asking you people what your experience is, where you can get the best car for your money.

I am interested in leasing, as i want to spend as little time as possible on the car stuff. Only thing that bothers me is that if i were to lease for 5-7 months, you would never get your initial deposit back. I found good prices at Flexcar.cy - whats your suggestion?

On a side note, once i´m looking for apartments there, what are good negotiating advices to get the price down?

Buying a car is much cheaper compared to renting/leasing in Cyprus, as the fees are quite high due to tourism demands (if you're not just staying a few months then leaving forever). For a car your best bet will be looking on Bazaraki (also likely for apartments too). A used car which can cost 7-8k will rent for 300-350/mo in low season and 450-500/mo in high season.

For apartments, you can try and negotiate, but likely the owner wont budge very much, there is still a lot of demand in Cyprus. Why take €100 less from you when the owner can show the property to 2-3 more people the same day?

Which city are you looking at? If it's in a very touristic area and you don't plan to be there the peak months, you may find (but wont be easy) a landlord who could be willing to negotiate lower rent in order for you letting them occupy it with tourists during the high season. A second option people use is to just negotiate a lease and a utility bill in your name, but somebody else lives in the property. When you visit Cyprus you just stay in an Airbnb.

Tbh renting for a few hundred would be fine for me because when i first arrive there it would be a headache to visit used cars to buy. Just anything over 400/m is too much for some small used car.

I still think you can negotiate because some appartments on bazaraki even say "negotiable", so i guess its common practice?

I´m looking at paphos
