I've seen BTC Pay Server mentioned many times in various threads, but there's not really any explanation on how it actually works or how difficult it is to set up a server with the software.

Are there any CMS systems that support this server, so if you have one installed, you just install a plugin in WordPress, for example, and then it works?

Do you need to be a specialist to set up such a server? I could imagine it requires a significant amount of security on the server to prevent misuse and fraud, i.e., hackers, etc.?

If you are not familiar with docker, I would recommend a hosted solution

Getting your own lightning node working nicely is gonna be the most difficult part.

You will have your coins on your (own hardware) or whatever wallet and ideally not on the vps itself.
You will import your wallets xpub into the invoicing engine such that it displays the addresses which you hold on your trezor or phone wallet or whatever wallet you want.

Hardening servers it is what it is with any vps, you will most likely use and have backups, do some access hardening (eg. ssh key login) and monitoring for access etc etc.

very well, now I have something to study and read. hopefully there is some useful information around that let me integrate it with Wordpress.

there is if you use woocommerce.

Otherwise btcpayserver can be run by api calls, so you can build any workflow you want and need. (it is like stripe or bitpay)

So the best option is to buy a hosted solution and then use WooCommerce for WordPress, making it more or less a plug & play solution?

Are there any well-known developers you can hire somewhere without it being too amateurish or getting scammed? For example, to create a plugin for other CMS systems that are less well-known and not supported?
