The way things have changed in the U.S., it looks like Delaware and New Mexico are now the best options for a simple offshore company.

Wyoming is cheapest and often chosen because Wyoming has no corporate taxes. Nevada is their competitor.
New Mexico is best for a bit more anonymity and lower carrying cost.

I would put it that way. If you have the money and have a reliable company, there is nothing wrong with going with Delaware. It had extensive case law making it easier to attract investors and buyers alike. Wyoming is definitely cheaper and thus probably the choice for self-employed.

@yngmind I would be interested in knowing your rationale behind your decision. Anything I was missing?
