Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

Well if you get audited and they decide you owe them and you can't prove otherwise I guess you have no choice but to pay up and you will then be allowed to leave the country. If this happens then you do a wire and make the payment including any penalties I guess. If you don't have the funds...

Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

What would you do differently in Bangkok vs PP / Siem Reap? Is this a generational thing I wonder? When I was in my 20s I would go to the nightlife multiple times a week and far later at the weekends but I'm in my 50's now and I grew out of that a while back. The only reason I moved to Asia...

Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

Yeah, I'm one of them but not yet retired. Currently in Cambodia for about half a year and Thailand for a little less than the other 180 days.

Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

Do you have any information of this directly? From my online research which is pretty extensive I can see declarations everywhere about tax on worldwide income in Cambodia is you're there for more than 182 days a year. Yet it appears the only way to actually pay any tax is if you incorporate...

Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

I heard things are not that simple in Cambodia. They don't have personal tax filings, it's all salary or corporation based. They do claim to tax residents on world wide income but there doesn't appear to be a way to actually process this. I'm in Phnom Penh right now and would like additional...

So no residence permits for nomads in Thailand?

There is something called a 'certificate of residence' which you will require to register a new vehicle in your name (a car for example), a slightly different one for opening a bank account and another one that's required to get a drivers license. I've done all 3 of the above multiple times...

Thailand DTV visa and taxation/ tax residency

The ability to see what you earned overseas via CRS provides little advantage when they only tax remitted amounts which they could always access if they wanted to via local Thai banks. It would only really come into play if they introduce a worldwide earnings taxation.

Thailand DTV visa and taxation/ tax residency

If you spend more than 179 days in Thailand including arrival and departure days then you're a tax resident - 179 days or less then you're not.

Seeking Expert Advice for Securing My New Lenovo Laptop

There's a disk encryption system that's been around for a very long time but it never gained the popularity of VeraCrypt or Truecrypt which came before and that's because it's not free. It's a professional solution, I find in life you tend to get what you pay for. You can 'tune' the hash...

Thailand new change - world wide income at Thai tax levels to be taxed

So I've been out of the UK for about 15 years now, visited once for a week around 12 years ago - haven't been back since all done and dusted with them. This year I'm spending less than 180 days inside Thailand - more like 175, will probably do this for the next few years as well so I won't be...

    Cambodia or Vietnamese residency

Due to Thai changes in tax rules I'm probably going to move to Phnom Penh for about 6 months a year for the next couple of years, it's no biggie so long as I can find somewhere to live. When there I'll be needing visa extensions and a bank account but I'm sure there's a load of agents who can...

    Thailand 0% tax

I hope there's some kind of clarification soon because when I go looking for information on this all I find is lots of out of date information on new rules which have subsequently been cancelled.

    Thailand tax update 20/11/23

100% True, my main concern is bringing myself to their attention so I will hold off until there's some kind of clarity. I wouldn't need to report anything until March 2025 anyway so it's not like there's any kind of rush. Maybe they will clarify by then but based on the way they run this...

    Thailand tax update 20/11/23

Well that sucks, maybe I'll have to suck it up and pay some tax. I do expect to have to pay some as I transfer living expenses into the country as well. I've got a Thailand Elite membership until 2040 so I guess I'll be looking at loopholes like leaving the country when I bring any larger...

    Thailand tax update 20/11/23

This is interesting, I have a bunch of 'money' tied up long term in the MtGox bankruptcy, repayments are apparently going to begin soon and I do expect SWIFT transfers to hit my account in the first 3 to 6 months of 2024. I will get both crypto (Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash) which I'm not worried...
