    It's not a "fabricated article", there are lots of articles about this case. In Mauritius, banks can use email for cash transfers or stocks trading remotely for instance. I'm not surprised it can happen.

    If you live uniquely on your capital gains (ie Irish ETF), no taxation. It's just an example. For a passive retiree living with financial investments, the inconvenient is that some brokers are unavailable, and no DTA with US.

    Health insurance could be a key factor especially for aged retired, and it's one of the advantage of the Portugal with good and cheap health protection for retired RNH.
